DOE Pursuing Toxic Fuel Case

TEHRAN June 14 (Shana)--The Department of the Environment (DOE) is to submit documents to the Majlis Energy Committee regarding toxic fuel produced in Iran in recent years.

DOE head, Masoumeh Ebtekar, said evidence of carcinogenic gasoline produced in petrochemical plants has been drawn up.
“This issue is fully transparent and the DOE will not step back from its position which is protecting people’s health,” she said.
Ebtekar said DOE is closely monitoring the implementation of air pollution standards.
Iran’s Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh recently ordered petrochemical plants to stop producing gasoline.
Iran has had to produce gasoline in petrochemical plants as it faced restrictions in gasoline purchase due to international sanctions imposed on the country over its disputed nuclear program.
