Iran Cars Meet Euro-4 Standards

TEHRAN June 11 (Shana)--Ninety percent of cars manufactured in Iran conform with euro-4 standards, the secretary of Association of Iranian Car Manufacturers said.

Ahmad Nematbakhsh said Iranian carmakers are currently supplying energy-efficient vehicles on the market.
He said that the euro-4 standards incorporated into car parts reduce fuel consumption and help safeguard the environment.
Nematbakhsh said Peugeog 206, Samand, L-90 and Tiba are among cars meeting euro-4 standards.
Iran is working for the distribution of euro-4 grade gasoline across the country in order to stop petrochemical plant’s gasoline production.
Iran’s Petroleum Ministry has made the decision in order to spare the environment harmful effects of petrochemical plant’s production.
Shahrokh Khosravani, a deputy head of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, said recently boosting the quality of production in refineries has been pursued in recent years.
He said Imam Khomeini Refinery is producing 15 ml/d of euro-4 gasoline for distribution in big cities.
Khosravani also said that Iranian refineries process 1.85 mb/d of crude oil, adding that the country’s gasoline production now stands 61 ml/d, up 5 ml/d from a year ago.
He said the long-awaited Persian Gulf Star Refinery would come on-stream next year with a 36-million-liter output.
