Two Gasoline Production Units to Come On Stream In Iran: Official

TEHRAN Times: Two gasoline production units will come on stream in Iran in the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21, 2014, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) said.

The two units will come into operation in Isfahan and Bandar Abbas refineries, the Mehr News Agency quoted NIORDC managing director Abbas Kazemi as saying on Monday.

It is projected that the two units will increase the country’s premium gasoline production, meeting Euro-4 standards, to 30 million liters per day.

For the time being, around 30 million liters of premium gasoline is being supplied to gas stations nationwide.

Gasoline consumption hit all-time record high of 100.7 million liters in Iran on April 1.

Iranians consumed around 1.5 billion liters of gasoline during March 18-April 4, according to the Mehr News Agency.

Gasoline consumption amounted to 70 million liters per day on the average in the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20.

On March 5, the director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said Iran will triple gasoline imports in the current Iranian calendar year as domestic petrochemical units have stopped gasoline production.

Mostafa Kashkouli added that 10-11 million liters of gasoline will be imported per day in the current year.

Over the past three years, 8-10 million liters of gasoline has been produced per day by the domestic petrochemical units, Kashkouli noted.
