Minister to Inaugurate Maroun 3, Koupal Projects May 21

TEHRAN – The inauguration ceremony of Maroun 3 and Koupal projects on collection of associated gas would be held in the presence of Minister of Petroleum Seyed Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh Monday.

Accompanied by some of his deputies, the minister would leave here for Ahvaz, the capital of southern province of Khuzestan, tomorrow.

The associated gas collection plan dubbed Amak includes eight projects that will help avoid the burning of eight million cubic meters of sour associated gas per day when it is fully implemented.

Maroun 3 gas pressure station located 50 km off Ahvaz-Ramhormoz Road.

Iran collected $150 million worth of associated gases in its Amak plan by April 20, said the executive official.

Accounting for 60 thousand barrels of crude oil extraction daily, totally 50 billion cubic feet of associated gases was collected, Mohammad Bijanfar added.

Of the figure, 3.1 million barrels were NGL and 40 billion cubic feet were light gas, he said.

The project aims to collect the associated gases of the Ahvaz oilfields, Maroun 1-3, Koupal, Mansouri, and Ab-Teimour oilfields, added the official.
