Majlis Ratification on Fuel Price Should Not Change

TEHRAN – Head of Majlis Research Center expressed satisfaction that double urgencies of a bill for changing gasoline price have not been approved and noted that such bills are not compatible with basic rights of people.

Ahmad Tavakkoli, an MP from Tehran, told reporters on the sidelines of Majlis open session today, that one of the most important duties of Majlis deputies was to protect the status of the legislature and to endeavor to promote the rule of law.

If any law is to be changed so hurriedly, no law will be respected. Fortunately, Majlis deputies did not vote in favor of gasoline price change and, thus, safeguarded the status of the parliament,” he said.

The MP noted that the government should notify the Majlis that it can prepared grounds for gasoline rationing until May 22; otherwise, it should seek Majlis permission for rationing.
